I am not sure where I got this idea. But as I was reading that book (really can’t remember what that was), I realized that some people kept theirselves busy just to overcome the boredom that they are currently into.
Bulk work, staying in front of their PCs for long hours, letting other people know that they are doing a lot usually show BOREDOM!
I am not saying all BUT SOME people really do this. The reason? To escape the feeling of being guilty. They allow others to see them busy, not living life to show them that they love their company, dedicated to finish all tasks and are worthy for a raise.
Again, this does not apply to ALL. I know of some folks who really love what they do but just strucked with a lot of things to do. However, I want to warn folks who would usually indulge theirselves with work – whether they love what they do or not – beware that you might get yourselves into an overwhelming situation that you find it a never-ending vicious cycle. Get out of it ASAP! I don’t mean resign or have a career change immediately. You may consider assessing what keeps you busy. Try to think of ways to eliminate or at least lessen the amount of time you are devoting to finish that task. I cannot give a step by step but I’ll suggest that you google it and google will give you millions of pages on how you can lessen your time to perform a task.
I wish you well and hope you’ll enjoy what you are currently doing.
Praying for our life’s success,
Ivy
